FAQs

The Sea Marshall Rescue System SMRS8-LR (PLB8-LR, in Europe)
is perfectly  suited for offshore or Blue Water yachting.

Professional yachts that use Sea Marshall products include:

  • Djuicedragons
  • Fila
  • Foncia
  • Playstation
  • Team Legato
  • Team Philips
The Sea Marshall marine locator beacon (MLB) is worn by an individual when  at sea, typically integrated into a standard life jacket or PFD.  In the event of a man overboard situation, the MLB will self activate 20 seconds after immersion into the water. The Sea Marshall beacon then  transmits a signal which can be picked up by an onboard receiver to allow  the crew to organize an immediate recovery of the MOB or if necessary to  call upon the Search & Rescue teams to take over the operation.

The SAR organizations can then track the MLB signal on their own standard  equipment. The MLB signal is set to 121.5 MHz which is the fixed, agreed   international homing frequency. All SAR craft worldwide are outfitted with the correct equipment to monitor and track this signal.  The recommended Sea Marshall MLB (SMRS-LR or PLB8-LR) has a built-in  electro luminescent light (night vision compatible) neoprene high bright  antenna. This gives a visual reference to the search teams in addition to the  transmitted signal.
